Enjoy learning some tricks to confuse and amaze...some are easy, some are hard, but before you show anyone PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

Magnetic Wand 1

Example

Hold the wand in your left hand and grab your wrist like with your right hand. Open your hand wind and the wand stays; it doesn't fall.

The Secret

The secret is your right index finger secretly hold the wand in place. Practice in front of a mirror.

Magnetic Wand 2

Example

Hold the wand in your left hand. Open your hand wind and the wand stays; it doesn't fall. This time you don't use you right hand at all.

The Secret

The secret is a rubber band or a watch on your left wrist holds a pencil that secretly hold the wand in place. Practice in front of a mirror.

Rubber Wand

Example

Hold the wand in your hand at the tips of your thumb and index finger. It has to be a very loose grip.

The Secret

The secret is slowly move your wrist up and down. It appears (due to the optical ilusion) that the wand is bending as though it is made of rubber.

Rising Wand 1

Example

The bottle is best if it is just a bit shorter than the length of the wand or if the bottle is slowly tapered like the old glass coke bottle.

The Secret

The secret is Get invisible string or hemming string at your local fabric or sewing store. Cut a piece about 15”. Tape one end to the bottom pf the wand and tie or tape the other end to your shirt button. Place the wand in the bottle like in the picture and as you move the bottle away from your body it will “rise” and as you move it back it lowers.

Rising Wand 2 | Bare Handed

This is based on the same principle as on Rising Wand #1. But instead of using a bottle use your fist. Hold the wand in your fist as in Figure 1. Then loosen your grip and move your hand away from your body and back again. The wand will rise and lower. To cover the moving of your hand back and forth move your body at the same time and wave your other hand back and forth and around the wand like making a magic gesture.

Rotating Wand Stunt

Figure 2

Figure 3

Holding the wand like in figure 1 (hands flat open facing toward the ground) you must bring it to look like figure 1 without letting go of the wand. No one can help and you can't use any other objects to help either. Your fingers can't bend.

Once you learn this secret, challenge your friends. Just don't show them the secret "move".
That move is seen in figure 3. After holding the wand like in figure 1 (without anyone seeing) cross your thumbs. Slowly slide your left hand over the right right hand making a kind of "X" with your hands; the wand will slowly turn or pivot between the thumb-crotches. Without stopping bring your hands to prayer position, the wand will automatically pivot into the final position like in figure 1.

Wand from Coin Purse

This is a great openning trick. You open up a coin purse, reach in and pull out your long wand. The wand is much longer than the purse is deep but somehow you get it out of that purse.

Cut Hole

Cut a hole in a coin purse at the bottom. The coin purse should only be 2 or three inches wide and deep.

Long Sleeves

Have the wand up your left sleeve with the tip extending to your palm. It may help to have a rubber band hold it in place.

Load

It's up to you if you start with the purse in your left hand with the wand already loaded into the purse. You can also (with practice) have it in your right hand then place it into your left hand, sliding the wand into the whole....to look natural please practice it a hundred times or more.

The Trick

Open up the purse, reach in and pull out the wand. Watch your angles.

Wand from Card Box

This is the same as the trick above but instead of a coin purse use an empty card box. People will think you are about to do a card trick but will be surprised when you produce a wand

Haunted Ring on Wand

Since this trick works the same ways as the two rising wands methods aready explained this might be a good trick to doo after those tricks. Place a ring on the wand and it mysteriously climbs up and lowers down on the wand at command.

The Secret

Tape a piece of string onto one of the tips of the wand like in the rising wand. The other end of the string is tied to your shirt button, your belt, or anchored somewhere on your body. Place the finger ring on the wand like in the picture. As you move the wand back toward your body and forth away from your body the ring rises lowers and rises along the wand.

Wand through Hanky

This one will take practice! Practice in front of a mirror a lot! In one motion you stick a wand under a hanky that is draped on your left hand. You show it gloing under the hank from front and back. Then you bring it home by pushing it through the hanky and you pull it out. The hanky is shown and has no tear, hole, or rip.

Placing Wand

This picture shows you placing the wand under the hank. Do it slowly as you show your audience the back side and the front side.

wand-through-hanky-2

Tricky Move

Here is the tricky move. If your hand were to move down and back up the audience would think you moved the wand outside the hanky so you can't do that. But if you continued moving upward it would hit the hank and not go through without ripping it. so while continuing the upward motion you flip the wand end for end bringing it to the outside of the hank.

Grab Wand

Your left hand now grabs the wand through the hanky so when you push upward it seems like the hanky is resisting as you appear to push it through the hanky.

Here is what it looks like from the back.

Front View

Here is what it looks like from the front. Pull it out with your right hand from the top and then show the hanky.

Vanishing Wand

This is an oldie but a goodie and so easy! But it really fools people! You have an audience member stand next to you. You have them open their hand palm up. You bring the wand to their hand counting one two three. They are instructed to grab the wand on three. When you come down on the third time they grab but the wand is gone.

Bring Down

This picture shows you bring the wand down for the first count.

vanishing-wand-2

Upswing

It is very inportant you bring the wand way back up by the side of your head on each upswing. You can do the counts (the wand touching their palm each time as you say the number....one.(touch) bring up....two (touch) bring up...this time (go to next picture)

vanishing-wand-3

The Trick

Stick the wand behind your ear or in your collar, but don't change your pace or movement. Come down and say three, they will quickly close their hand. If you turn slightly so that the side of your body that has the wand blocks their view they will stay baffled for a while. Don't do the moves too slow or they may look up from their hand. 99% of the people stay staring at their own hand through the count. But if the upswing takes too long they will look up.

Suspended Wand

suspended-wand

Example

You take a toilet paper tube (you can decorate it with glitter and paint and stars and stuff) and you place your wand in it while holding the tube with the other hand. The wand falls to the floor. But then you pick up the wand, wave the wand around the tube and put it back in. This time it doesn't fall. Part of it sticks out the bottom, part out the top...but it doesn't fall. You command it to fall and then it does.. You then show the tube empty.

The Secret

You cut a hole big enough for your thumb to reach through the tube and touch the inside wall of the tube. Never let the audience see this hole. When you show the tube empty make sure your palm covers the hole and don't let them stare in the tube for too long.
The first time you put the wand in let it fall past your thumb and to the floor. Pick it up,and wave it around the tube. The next time you put it in let your thumb push it against the side of the tube. It looks like it's suspended (make sure some of the wand can be seen at the bottom and the top of the tube.)
Say your command, then let the wand loose and it will fall. Show the tube (rmemeber to take your thumb out and cover the hole with your palm.

Rising Wand in Bottle | Method 2

One cool thing about this method is that after the trick the wand can be handed out for inspection and if you pull the string off the bottle while they exam the wand you can hand out the bottle too. In this trick the magician takes a wand and places it in a bottle at his command it rises and falls. At the end it jumps out of the bottle all together.

Ok the pictures tell the story. Get some bee's wax from a magic store or a craft store (cheaper at the craft store) wad a ball of wax about the size of two pin heads and kneed one end of thread (black silk or clear thread (find at Walmart of a fabric store) ) It helps to tie a knot in the end of the thread first (sticks to the wax stronger). Cut the string at about 14-18" depending on your size. You want it long enough so when you hold the bottle the string can go most the way into the bottle and out again and continue to your anchor point. The other end (the anchor point) is tied to one of your shirt buttons or tied onto a safety pin and pinned into your pants waste band.

To start have the string laying across the mouth of the bottle. Place the wand in the bottle making sure you engage the slit in the wand (can be cut in very slightly (almost invisible but enough to catch the string) with a nail file). Push the wand in making the slack of the string go in as well. Once the wand is in move your body away from the bottle as you straighten your arms (you are holding the bottle). The wand will rise and fall as you move back and forth. At the end move your body and arms away from each other quickly and the wand will jump out of the bottle. If you do it strong enough the string will separate (usually taking the wax with it) from the bottle. Hand the wand and bottle out for inspection.

Static Wand

To prepare for this you will need a piece of clear thread or very fine black silk thread. Make a loop about 3" long and tie it with a knot that won't slip. Then tie the other end to your button or a safety pin like the last trick. The string should be as long as the reach of your arm if bent at about 45 degrees in front of your body. You can also just make the string one big loop with it anchored to your button or safety pin at some point. I like this way best. This is the method I have pictured above.
After hooking up the string and putting your hand through the loop. (with Practice you can get your hand in the loop without even looking for the loop. (It hangs in front of you until you need it.) Just slide your finger in and stretch out your arm. Make sure you have the loop around your middle finger. (In the picture I am using a thing string so the camera can see it.)
Take your wand and slide it into your fist making sure it goes through the loop. Then out stretch your arm again and the wand will stay. You can remove the wand and hand it to someone then take it back and do it again.
One other ting we found while playing with this is you can rotate the wand around on your open palm (still hooked onto the loop and then after a few turn you can let go and pull your body back making the loop tense and the wand will rotate back the other direction like a slow helicopter rotor. Looks like you are moving it with magic.

I bet you can come up with a million other ideas with this one. Email me your ideas and maybe we can post them here.

Crying Wand

This one is an old idea where a Nickle would "cry". I just used a wand instead. You hold a wand at you finger tips and water drips from the end as you squeeze the wand.

Real simple. get a wad of tissue paper or a tiny piece of a kitchen sponge and soak it in water. Do not over soak it. Just enough to fill it with out it dripping on it's own.

Hold this wad in your left hand at the tips of your first two fingers, don't show anyone it. Hold the wand in your right hand. Take the wand in the middle with your left hand, using the same fingers holding the wad and your thumb. Squeeze the wand and the water will drip along the edge until it drip off the bottom. You will need to experiment the best place to hold. If you are using a Victor Kent Crystal metallic wand the clearness of the wand helps hide the drip along the edge.
